We collect what you voluntarily give us: name, email, phone (optional), and message when you contact us or sign up through this site.
If you use our petition page to commit to signing the recall petition, we also collect your home street address, city, and ZIP code. We record the result of the district check described in Section 3 (whether your address is inside Dallas City Council District 13, outside it, or could not be confirmed), the date and time of your commitment, and whether you agreed to receive email and text updates.
When you make a donation, your payment and donor information is collected directly by Anedot, our donation processor, not by this website. See Section 3.
We also automatically record limited technical information when you submit a form: your IP address, and basic information about how you first arrived at this site (for example, whether you came from a text message, an online ad, a search engine, or typed the address directly). See Section 4.
To send campaign updates, coordinate volunteers, and organize the recall effort.
We use your home address only to confirm that you live in Council District 13 and to contact you about where and when to sign the recall petition. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it. If your address is outside District 13, we may ask whether you would like to volunteer instead.
Our commitment form is not a signature on the recall petition. The official petition is signed on paper, in person, and we do not file the information you enter on our website with the City. When you sign the official petition, what you write on it becomes part of the petition filed with the City Secretary and may be a public record under Texas law.
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we use it to send campaign messages. Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out. We do not share your mobile number or your text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing.
We use information about how you found the site to understand which outreach efforts are working, so we can spend the campaign's money where it does the most good. This is used in aggregate to evaluate our own outreach. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Form submissions are processed by our own website server and stored in a private database that we control. We never sell your data.
We share information with the following services, only for the purposes described:
To check your district, our website server sends your address to the U.S. Census Bureau and the City of Dallas services listed above. Those requests come from our server, not your browser, and they do not include your name, email address, or phone number. Those agencies handle the data under their own policies.
Your home address is stored in our own private database. We do not add it to our email list. Our email service receives your name, email address, phone number (if you gave one), and labels such as whether you volunteered, committed to sign, and whether your district was confirmed.
Donations are made to True Grit Texas PAC, a general-purpose political action committee. Contributions exceeding $110 are itemized in campaign finance reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission, including the donor's name, address, employer, and occupation. Those reports are public records. This disclosure is required by Texas law and is separate from the privacy practices described elsewhere in this policy.
This site sets the following cookies:
Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_…) — helps us understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are viewed and how people find us. These cookies collect standard, aggregated usage data including approximate location, device type, and pages visited. We do not use this information to identify you personally, and we do not sell it. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
Attribution (rgw_src) — a first-party cookie we set ourselves. It records how you first arrived at this site — for example, the text message, ad, or search that brought you here — so that if you later sign up or donate, we know which outreach worked. It stores only that source information and the date of your first visit. It contains no name, email, or other personal identifier, and it is not shared with advertisers or any third party. It expires automatically after 90 days, and clearing your browser cookies removes it immediately.
If you submit a form on this site, the value of that attribution cookie is saved alongside your submission in our database so we can connect it to your signup.
Local storage (popupShown) — we use browser localStorage only to remember that you have seen the “Stay in the Know” popup so it does not appear again. This stores no personal information — just a simple flag. You can clear your browser data anytime to reset it.
The donation form hosted by Anedot may set its own cookies on Anedot's domain. Those are governed by Anedot's privacy policy, not this one.
We do not use advertising or retargeting pixels on this site.
You can ask us to view, correct, or delete your information at any time. Email info@recallgaydwillis.com and we will respond as promptly as we can.
Every campaign email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which removes you from our mailing list immediately.
We keep signup information for as long as the recall effort is active. Contribution records are retained as required by Texas campaign finance law, and we cannot delete records we are legally required to keep and report.
This includes your petition commitment and home address. To have them removed, email us at the address above. We will delete them unless we are legally required to keep them.
If we change how we collect or use information — for example, if we add advertising pixels when paid campaigns begin — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
